In this section there is one person who came to mind when I was thinking of McCandless types and that person would be Jack London. Jack was born in san Frisco and his father john London and mother Florra. London child hood was marked by poverty. Jack London left school at the age of 14 and became a hobo. In 1894 he was arrested in Niagara Falls and jailed for vagrancy. After the jail years this made him raise himself out of poverty but they also gave later material for such works as THE SEA-WOLF which was partly based on his horrific experiences as a sailor in the Pacific Ocean. Without having a education since he quit school he spent most of the time in liberies reading books which then shortly after he got enrolled to the University of California in Berkeley. During that time he loved to write and just started writing. Chris and Jack are similar because they both didn’t get along with their dads because they both had problems. They both attended college and had an education. What is very similar between these two are that jack and Chris were both hobos and hoped on trains and lived out in the wild. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_London http://www.kirjasto.sci.fi/jlondon.htm
